I never did very well in math - I could never seem to persuade
the teacher that I hadn't meant my answers literally.
~Calvin Trillin
I believe the above quote expresses how most of us feel about math. This year I hope that our children will not feel this way. Between the single gender strategies, best practices of teaching, technology, and our interaction as parent, teacher, student relationships, I want to reverse this type of thinking about math. I want the children to see the relevance of real life to the standards and concepts we are teaching, and be able to leave fourth grade prepared for the future. I hope you will join me in this endeavor as we embrace the "all in" concept and make our children the best mathematicians they can be!
